What’s Happening at Hillside…
The First Month back!
Welcome back to Hillside – we are so glad to commence our 54th year with you! We began this year spending a few days getting to know some new faces, renewing old acquaintances, and figuring out how to grow as a community. This included building some shelves as teams, playing a rousing game of musical chairs, and sharing our favorite plants. We laughed, sparred, and opened up to what this school year has in store for all of us.
Lizeth Gutierrez recently published an article about the Chicano muralismo movement in St. Paul, Minnesota with the Minnesota Historical Society. Enjoy
Amy Elizabeth Spens, a Hillside alum from our 2011 graduating class, has just received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington. Congratulations, Dr. Spens!
Happy September birthday wishes to: Isabel, Isaac, Kael, Ryan, Shadow, Kyle, and Julie! We hope you have wonderful days filled with happiness and delicious cake.
We are excited to host our curriculum night in-person this year! We have scheduled the event for Thursday, September 22 at 7pm. Curriculum night is a chance for parents to meet our teachers and learn more about their child’s classes/curriculums. Parents will also have the opportunity to ask the teachers questions.
To RSVP, please sign up here.
School Picture Day!
We have scheduled our school picture day for Monday, Sept. 12.
Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15th-October 15th. We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. The theme for this year is “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.” Here is a great article from the Census Bureau on the Latino population in the U.S.
Community Day Hike and Party
On Saturday, September 17th, please join us for a hike at Lakemont Community Park. We will be meeting at Hillside at 1:30pm to head over together in the school vans. If you prefer to meet us at the park, we will be arriving there at around 1:40pm. A party will follow at Hillside’s campus starting at 4pm and running until 7pm. Hope to see you all there!
Our first open house of the academic year is scheduled for October 13th at 7pm. Please spread the word! We are looking forward to showing our school community to prospective new families and friends. To RSVP, please sign up here.
Please remember to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with what is happening on campus.
Also, please upload a photo to your Jupiter profile (parents and students).
