Hillside Opens With Great Music!

As you know, today was the first day of school. After the expected bustle of choosing lockers, greeting old friends, passing in forms, and playing a few games to learn a little about each other, we were treated to an unexpected but delightful musical interlude.

The trio included Hillside’s own Charlie Catino on piano and Caelan Sun on cello who were joined by their friend, Anna Johnson on violin. They performed Antonín Dvořák ’s Dumky Trio .

During the summer they practiced individually. In August, they all went to Music Northwest, a chamber music camp in West Seattle to receive coaching and to practice together as a trio. They were able to practice together for only four days before the recital. We are very pleased to announce that they were awarded the Tonkonogui Award for most expressive trio at Music Northwest.

Thank you Anna, Caelan, and Charlie for sharing your beautiful music with all of us. It was a wonderful way to begin what is sure to be a great year.
