Hillside’s History Feast 

This year our History Feast event was held on Saturday, April 29th from 5pm-8:30pm. Our performers did a wonderful job researching and acting their characters-and throwing a little humor into the mix! We are very proud of them!

Mount Saint Helens Trip 

Hillside Earth Science and Environmental Science Families (aka grades 5-8) will be attending an overnight field trip to Mount Saint Helens for May 2nd until May 3rd this spring. Students will learn about Mount Saint Helens both from a plate tectonics/earth science perspective as well as from a disturbance/succession/environmental science perspective from the educators at the Volcano Outdoor School (VOS).

From Junior Frances Alls: Hello Hillside Family and Friends! For my junior project, I’m hosting two events, the proceeds from which will go toward new lighting at Hillside!

Dance
Are you ready for the 1960s,’70s, and ‘80s-themed dance party of the year?!
For part of my Junior Project, I’m hosting a Dance Party Fundraiser and Blowout benefitting Hillside on Friday, May 12th, 2023, 7-10 pm. I encourage you to join the festivities dressing in your grooviest 60s, 70s, and 80s fashion so you can boogie down to the music as they did back then!
• All proceeds will be used toward getting new lighting at Hillside.
• Get additional information and purchase tickets with the attached link!

Raffle
In addition to the dance, I’m running a Raffle, also to benefit Hillside, with chances to win one of three spectacular prizes!
• Check out the prizes and purchase raffle tickets with the attached link.
• You must be 18 or older to purchase tickets!
• Please share the information with people in your life who want to support you and your school!
Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, May 10th, drawing is at dance on Friday May 12th.
• All proceeds will be used toward getting new lighting at Hillside.

Note: You do not have to attend the dance if you wish to participate in the raffle, and you don’t have to purchase raffle tickets to go to the dance! Raffle winners will be drawn at the dance.

Dear Hillside Community,

We are delighted to announce that as part of her junior project, Frances Alls has successfully raised an astounding $5,000 for Hillside! This remarkable achievement is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our mission.

We are immensely proud of Frances for her outstanding efforts in organizing and executing such a successful fundraising campaign and fun dance party benefit. She has not only surpassed our expectations, but has also set a shining example for her peers and our community. We extend our sincerest thanks and deepest appreciation to Frances for the difference she has made.

We also want to acknowledge and express our gratitude to each member of our community who supported Frances throughout this fundraising journey. Thank you all for your support, generosity, and commitment to Hillside. We are truly fortunate to have such an incredible community by our side.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, a time to celebrate and honor the rich culture, history, and contributions of the AAPI community. This month, we recognize the strength, resilience, and diversity of the AAPI community, and the impact they have made on our society. From art and music, to science and technology, AAPI individuals have left an indelible mark on the world. Let us take this opportunity to learn about and appreciate the accomplishments and traditions of the AAPI community, and continue to strive for a more inclusive and equitable society for all. First Day of Electives!

Yes, Thursday, May 4 was our first day of spring electives! Our baking class jumped right into a baking challenge. The goal was to make the most delicious cookies ever. Take a look at the loads of fun our students had while preparing their cookies.
