The 7th and 8th graders designed experiments to determine whether a reaction was endothermic or exothermic and how reactant concentrations impacted the resulting temperature change.
Different groups tested different reactants, including citric acid, baking soda, baking powder, hydrogen peroxide, magnesium, and vinegar.
Biology students are now working on independently designed experiments. Two groups are testing the impact of light color on photosynthesis, one by covering plants in various colors of cellophane and monitoring growth and health, and another by placing aquatic plants in acid indicator solution under lights of various colors to note the use of carbon dioxide and decrease in carbonic acid.
